|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
BEN is the Belgian node of the EMBnet. It provides to scientific researchers in Belgium, both academic and industrial, an access to updated databanks with nucleic acid and protein sequences, as well as the necessary software to search these databanks and perform various sequence analysis tasks. BEN is a joint initiative of the Université Libre de Bruxelles and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. It is financially supported by the Belgian Federal Science Policy Office. The Belgian EMBnet Node is managed by Valérie Ledent under the academic supervision of Prof. Marc Colet from the Université Libre de Bruxelles and Prof. Lode Wijns of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, which are the promoters of the BEN concept. The Belgian EMBnet Node computers are situated at the Brussels Free Universities Computing Centre. The manager of this computing centre is Paul Raeymaekers.
