He completed his doctoral thesis at the Laboratorium voor Biochemie of prof. E. Schram, with as subject the enzymology of E. coli arginyl-tRNA synthetase. Later, he conducted in the same laboratory scientific research on the measurement of phagocytic leucocyte activity with the help of chemiluminescence and at the same time gave the practical laboratory courses in General Chemistry. He has a long practical experience with informatics. He is scientific collaborator of BEN since December 1993. His main tasks are maintenance of the sequence analysis software, preparation of courses for "advanced" users and the writing of manuals. He also gives the course Bioinformatics for the Interuniversity Programme Molecular Biology. Publications in the domain of bioinformatics
