DEA in Bioinformatics
 


BEN organises a basic course of introduction to Bioinformatics, in the framework of the Inter-university Master in Bioinformatics.
Through this course, you will receive the basic information necessary to use computers in a bioinformatics context.

  • Basic introduction to Molecular Biology
  • The Internet:basis, secure shell, X forwarding
  • Sequence databases
  • Searching in sequence and other databanks by keyword : SRS
  • Introduction to EMBOSS package of analysis tools and use of EMBOSS through practical exercises
  • Pairwise sequence comparison, sequence databank similarity search
  • Multiple sequence alignment, motif search
  • Genomics: NCBI, UCSC Genome Browser, Ensembl, Entrez


The BEN basics are held in the "salle Renaissance II", building J of the campus Solbosh of the U.L.B., Av. Franklin Roosevelt, 1050 Brussels. Timing is from 9.00 to 18.00.
